I hope that you will take the time to explore these pages to find out more about my bid to row solo from the U.S.A. to Scotland, across the North Atlantic Ocean, and will help me with my efforts to raise as much money as possible for my chosen charity, SAMH.
The next few months are going to be very exciting as I prepare for, and then undertake, the biggest challenge of my life and I will try my best to share the experience with you. The thought of rowing solo across the open ocean thrills me, yet fills me with fear as well, and although I may be all alone in the boat, none of this will be possible without your support and generosity.
So, I hope that you will come with me as I embark on this epic adventure...

24/04/2013The horizon will have to wait.
As I write this diary entry, I can see a chart for the North Atlantic Ocean lying in the corner of the room, with my intended route across it marked with a red line. Unfortunately, that is all that NY2SY will be for another year, a line on a chart. I am very sorry to announce that I am postponing my NY2SY Solo North Atlantic Row for this year. It's been a couple of days since I took the decision but I have not made any official statement until now as I wanted to contact all my sponsors and supporters, so that they heard the news from me first. I am gutted that I can't undertake the challenge this year but I have quite simply run out of time and there is no sponsor in the world that can help me with that. Although, I have made great progress with the project since the turn of the year, I have also had a lot of problems getting equipment to the island and these delays, combined with some other issues, have finally caught up with me.…
